Hi all,

I bought a non-running 1990 CB-1 from my brother a couple of years ago. I just got it going Thursday. I'll post some pics up later. This is the first (running) bike that I have owned although I have ridden my brothers/buddies bikes for years.

One question, how do you check the oil level? On the stand or with the bike straight up? I changed the oil and I put the 3+ quarts in it but there is no oil on the dipstick with the bike on the stand but it is at the top mark off the stand. The bike didn't come with any manuals.

Thanks!

Chris

Hey. Welcome to the party. You've come to the right place for questions like that.

Check your oil level off stand with bike level and dipstick NOT screwed in.

There is a couple links on here for online and downloadable manuals. I was at a site last night that had them. I think it was carlsalter.com or something like that.

Good luck.

Not sure if this is right but i think i remember readin in my service manual that you should warm tghe bike up and then check the oil level.  I will confirm this when i get home from work and make another post.

Yes, i was correct, run the engine for 2-3 minutes. then turn off and check the oil level.  I personally always screw the dipstick in then back out to check the level.
