I've seen a number of 'custom' paint jobs on CB-1s (some look better than others) and am wondering if anyone has ever repainted in stock colors (Presto Pearl Blue for fender tank and cowl and Iron Nail Silver Metallic for frame, etc.)  If so, did you have it professionally done, how did it turn out, was it super $$$, etc.?

I made a tail section that I painted to match the bike. I got the paint from Color Rite.com. They have the correct paint and base to match up the Presto Blue. They have it in 1/2 pint, pint, quart, and aerosol cans.
I used the aerosol cans, one each of base and color coat, and that should be enough to do the front fender and cowl. You would need two cans of each to do the fender, cowl, and tank. At $34.00 a can plus shipping its not cheap. You'll want to add on three or four cans of clear coat to get the luster back.
I'm not a painter but the color came out great. The finish is a little dry , but I didn't have a buffer to bring out the deep mirror finish. I can still fix that though.

Thanks Old Smoker.  Very cool looking conversion, very unique.  I've used Color Rite for their touch up paint, but never the aerosol.  Will look into that.

Thanks Minty,
You're the second person to ask for one so maybe I should work out a price. It does require some frame cutting and alot of relocating of the electronics. If you check out " My Big Boys Toy" in the photo gallery or go to oldsmokerpics on Photobucket.com you'll see what I mean.
I wouldn't be able to start on them until this fall, at best. Still too busy at work to even think about it right now, but if you're still interested come Sept./Aug. I'll be more receptive.

I really like the simplicity of the tail section, the way you can see through the frame. You had a vision and made it work. Your bike is unique and looks great.
