Let's forget about the extremely rare problems we have with our fine, superb quality, honda machines and talk about some other stuff for a bit.
Howz the weather?
Goin on a summer road trip?
How was your summer road trip?
Everyone still in love with "no drama" obama?
I fixed my crazy bike prob (with your help) and 2 days later went on my annual 4000km bike trip through the alberta and b.c. rockies (mountains), it was awesome. climbed a mountain, went white water rafting.
how bout u?

Good call.
How was your trip by the way? Take any pics for us? Too bad I couldn't meet you in Revelstoke, I ended up in Winnipeg that week. Unfortunately no road trips for me yet...still hoping to do one this summer, but lots of drama!
About 2 1/2 weeks ago I am on my way to work, Joe Blow in front of me about a block up ahead decides to stop in the middle of the road. No turn signals, just standing on his brakes. So as I approach, there is no oncoming traffic I signal and move left to go around him...I am sure you can see where this is going now
Of course dip sh!t now decides to turn left into a drive way with no signal or shoulder check, at this point I am about 10 feet behind him. I grab my brakes and slide sideways into his driver side door making contact with my front tire at his hinges and my knee in the middle of his door. As he stops, I roll down the front left side of his car and the bike lands on top of me pinning my foot under the peg. He gets out yelling "didn't you see my signal??" Lying on the ground looking up at his turn signal that is still not on...I tell him to get this freakin bike of off of me!!! Luckily I got away with only a few minor scratches and some sore muscles, no damage to the bike
Did not even scuff my riding gear! According to ICBC it was completely his fault, but it definitely got my attention!
Hope everyone else is keeping it shiny side up.

Hi all, Ya good call on this one Regina, weather here is schizophrenic, all the same i'm making the most of it, it is summer after all. haven't gone on any trips yet as i'm only back on the bike two weeks after a bad crash involving a taxi, But i do have plans to go on the annual Riders rally on the bank holiday in August, it's a great trip where you meet up with about 200 different riders on the friday and find out where your next check point is, you keep goin from check point to checkpoint until you find out where your camping that night this goes on for the whole weekend. we usually cover about 1000km and most of Ireland in the weekend. it's great fun

Summer is going great! Within the last 3 weeks, I have had "lil fella" on the track twice! Once for track days and the other time I RACED! It had been 2 years since being on the track, and man did it feel good!!!
The track days were first. Having been so long since being there, I started out in the Intermediate group. After the first 2 sessions, I requested to be moved up to the Advanced group. While not even running near the pace I use to raced at, many in the Intermediate group were "parking it" in the corners. I dont mean this in a bad way, but not being able to run the corners like I can, was frustrating.
Next session, I went out with the Advanced group and the control riders followed me to see if I was up to speed to run with them. I guess the Expert number plate on my bike was not good enough! LOL After a few laps, they gave me the "thumbs up" and now I could experience my drug to its fullest!
For the entire two days, the weather was ho-hum, cloudy all day with little spots of rain here and there. The temps were okay, just barely hitting 70 degrees. With the track not holding any heat, I had to run slightly lower tire pressures, to get more heat into the tires. With not many bikes in the "A" group, I had plenty of time to work on being smooth again and hitting my lines. Half of the track had been re-paved so many of my reference points, pavement irregularities, were not there. On this one uphill blind right hander, I used a large dark spot as my turn in point, but it was gone! But becasuse I have sooo many laps on this track, I quickly realized at what point I needed to be turning in.
I had my lap timer on the bike and tried not to pay much attention to, but, being a racer, I could not help to take a peek each time I passed the reciever. Towards the end of the 2nd day, I started to run hard and could only manag 1:36s, which was 4 seconds off my previous session times from 2 years ago. I had a fastest lap of 1:35.08. My personal best is a 1:31.7 I was okay with the times I had run considering how long it had been, but I knew I could run faster..
The one thing I did get from those two days of track riding was how out of shape, riding shape, I was! EVERYTHING on me hurt and some places still do from the track days! Physically, I may be a bit big to be racing the CB-1, but I doubt I would have as much fun if I were on a 600! Legs, hips, lower back, shoulders are all sore, and my race weekend was less than two weeks away! I will be doing lots of stretching , multiple times a day, until my races...
To be continued...

Awsome.
I like this thread.
Perfect riding day in Regina right now. Just pounded my way to the local pub for a pint of caffery. Sitting on the patio in the sun right now, deciding on a route home.

Life is good!
Speaking of racing, I do work at a shop, and myself and my buddy took his bike to a motorcycle dirt drag, got first place in the 100-150 class. Took home second last time, so it's an improvement. I'm thinking about putting a paddle tire on the -1 and running it in the 250-500 once or twice, have to find a second rim first though.

Just my excited update. We got a KTM 250 that needs a new carb, if I replace it, I race it. Just ordered a Keihin 40mm for it!
And we heard about some dirt track in North Carolina near Elizabeth City we're going to start racing at as well.

How easy is it to race over in the states? Do you need any specific license or anything? i'd love to bring my -1 on the track but the only track we have here is mondello and it's mad expensive and you gotta do a very expensive track day first to get your track license. I know there's loads of places over in europe to bring a bike but again full license needed to get over there, it's kinda sucky

We do dirt drag racing, so you just take your bike and sign the form and there you go. I'm sure tracks are more complicated, but I really want to get Lucille out there for a day or two.

Its fairly easy to get into roadracing here. Once you have all the right protective gear, and bike that is properly set-up, you just have to attend a track day with an organization that has a class for getting a racing license. As long as you pass the class, you are good to go!

Are there track schools you can go to? Like, take your gear, and they provide a bike and an instructor? Or even just an instructor and a place to ride?

Over here in Ireland? Ya we've got Mondello Park, but that's it, what that means is that they've got to split that into season times on the track, then split that between official races that's in cars and bikes and what ever times is left is for track days, again has to be split between cars and bikes, Plus our weather is unpredictable as anything so any day you do get can be cancled at the last minute and your left waitin in ther month to do it!!!! Oh and no compettition means a license to print money
