I'm looking to get a bit more power out of my engine, so i'm looking at a dyno jet kit and nc23 crank shaft, if i do both of these i'm thinking of getting a k&n air filter, should i swap my carbs for those off an nc23 or are they the same carbs?

 Changing the crank is a lot of work for no power gain. Same with the carbs. There is a lot more power to be found in the stock carbs than you may think.
 The K&N filter and jet kit is the right way to go.

I'm guessing he means camshaft, not crank shaft?

Definitely don't mess with the crankshaft anyway.

Have you ridden a race-bred 400? If you think the CB-1 is rev-happy, forget trying to tune it, you just chase the power higher and higher up the range. The CB also has notably (not massively but notably) better economy figures.

Also, the CBR400 is geared for a higher speed, I guess that's on the gearbox rather than just final gearing, so you wouldn't have the right ratios for your new power spread.

Ride the CB-1 for what it is, a great little bike.

you mean the jap models came with the cbr cams? Ok so don't change any thing just the filter and the jets? it's just an idea at the moment but i'd like to do it all the same it is a great little revy engine i get what you're saying but i'd just like that tiny bit more hp, i've ordered a triarm swing arm for the back, they just look great but i'm guessing they also shorten the wheel base? am i wrong here?

A K&N filter for a CB-1!!!! please tell me where you are getting this from as i sent K&N europe an e-mail asking them about such a product to which i got a reply saying it didn't exist!!!!!

I hope K&N Four stroke filters are better than the ones they do for strokers which are pi** poor and nothing but trouble. Wink

I've gone through 2 sets of ebc brake pads on the rear and one on the front. they don't last as long as honda but they work great, in fact hh on the front give it a dual disk feel
