Micra,
You can open an account for free at Photobucket.com and reduce the mb's of your pics to a size that will fit on this site.
Or you can just send them to my e-mail; MnKsports@Comcast.net
Why the engine swap? and what plans do you have for the take off engine?

What do the cams look like? Any life left in them?

to be honest it all looks very knackered when took the sump off there was big chunks of metal in there. also when you look at the cams there seems to be bits missing either where it has worn down or banged off something i really think it is worth scrap

Hey old smoker i got an engine nothin wrong with it, actually ran like a dream till the bike was scrapped only 36,000 km's on her, i'd say shipping to the states would be a bomb but if you're ever over here or know someone who can pick it up you're welcome to it, it's missing the crank case cover as it's cracked, but let me know what you think. Sorry to take over thread, i'd really like to see pics too though, where'd you get the full fairing from?

Ouch, Micra, thanks for the heads-up.

91cb-1, my only interest would be the cams. Smiley Can't seem to find the Jap spec cams over here. Let me know if you want to start parting out the engine.

This is the only picture I can remember having seen of a CB-1 with an NC23 engine in it. (How) did you overcome this problem? If you did it the way this guy did, you are heading for a snapped frame.

I would like to see your pictures though, hopefully you did something clever Smiley

sorry to dissapoint but i did the ame except i strenghtened the frame at the head stock and down the front of the square frame bit. what ecactly is the difference between the two engines nc27 and nc23 the fairing was a pig to fit due to the changed engine mount. i will take photos with my phone and upload them tomorrow

The difference is mainly in the head, the NC23 is tuned for a little bit more power, higher up the range. Physically externally it's mostly just that moved mount point.

Nice that you reinforced it at those points, but the point where this bike suffers is right around that top engine mounting bolt, which suggests the frame is flexing about that point. There are a lot of older higher miles examples that have cracks in the frame right there at the weld. I would say that not loading it with the engine there would make it worse not better as the engine would normally be supporting the frame as much as the other way around.

Hopefully it'll be fine, just remember to check around there each now and then for beginnings of any fatigue cracks.

From what bike did you pinch the full farings? How much modification was required?

Cracked in 2001. Disassembled and weld-repaired.
Crack now back in the same place (!!).
Stopped the crack with 3/64" hole.
Cross my finger, now 80000km.

Beasley has a fairing for the CBR400. I'm going to try it on our bike. http://www.beasleycomposites.com/  Megacycle has the Japan spec cams. http://www.megacyclecams.com/catalog/pages/page%2029.pdf
