overheating, no leaks, coolant seems to be circulating?

kind of always runs a little hot, but this past weekend was a warm one and i was pushing right up against the temp gauge red zone. this was while pushing up a hill at around 7000 rpm, then again when splitting through some gridlocked traffic...freeway speed brought the temp back down (but only a bit)...
again, no leaks, and radiator tubes feel hot...i was considering pulling out the thermostat, but circulation doesn't seem to be the issue? there's also plenty of oil, and it's not black...any ideas?

I know this is an old post but if you are still having trouble you should check to see if your fan is working when things get up to temperature, if the fan isn't coming on the easy way to check the circuit is to remove the thermo switch wire (left side of rad on the back) and earth it against the frame,
If the fan operates with the wire grounded out then either the thermo switch or radiator earth strap are faulty, If the fan still didn't work first check the fuse (never checked if CB1 has fuse? but mentioned just in case) with the thermowire grounded then the problem lies elsewhere in the fan circuit.

fan operates properly, but thx for the reply...i'm beginning to wonder if the problem might not originate in the cooling system. oil level seems good though, and no smoke...
