Looks cool!

Can you post close-up of the tail? I am particularity interested in the routing of the exhaust from the header to the undertail.

Thanks!

On an older CB-1 site that is no longer available, there was a guy, who was also from Canada, that had a CB-1 that he was working on.  If I remember correctly, his user name was "CrazyLarry".  He sent me pics of his Project 1, that had dual Hindle cans, Ducati 916 tail section, Suzuki TL front fairing, and he also mentioned several engine mods that he wanted to do.  Might this be you, or the same bike???  Huh

You are quite correct sir! I think his name is Kevin actually but his email is crazylarry yes. I think the bike was sold by his ex, and I bought it from that guy. I was introduced to him at Calabogie, where he told me about the bike. He did a nice job of the cycle parts and wiring etc. I believe the motor is stock, although I have not had a look inside yet. I will check the valve clearances over the winter. Only thing I did was the carb parts mentioned in "CB-1 from heck" article. Did give it a little more in the mid range. Bike goes so nice I don't want to mess with it. I am still trying to find bits for it, not a lot up here. Seems to be a ton in the UK, shipping gets expensive though. Would appreciate any tips or advice.

Rupert55,
All details and pics of my CB-1 race bike is in the Photo Gallery, under "My Cb-1 race bike".  Its the same here, not much in terms of aftermarket parts.  I am in Michigan, about 45 minutes from Windsor, Ontario.  What is the class that your daughter races your "1" in?  What other bikes are in those classes?

We ran it at Shannonville in Lightweight sportsman and Vintage lightweight. If you visit Shannonville .com there is a section "rules" All the info on classes is there. Perhaps not for long though because they are dropping the Vintage class due to low turnout. She also ran it in Womens cup. A little outclassed there, our ladies are very good and are mostly on 600s and SV650s. Still she gets lots of track time and by Sunday evening she has always knocked off a couple of seconds. X.A. sorry we've done for the year now, water and fuel is out, get them in the basement tonight, if the dang rain stops for five minutes. At Cayuga they they have similar classes, bike fits in Lt Vintage, Lost Era, and Formula Femme. I wanted to run it in the VRRA classes, but they didn't like the exhaust, not "period correct" I guess.  http://www.vrra.ca/   Mostly FZR400s, one bandit 400 and the CB-1.  http://soaracing.ca/

I was just thinking it was time we went to Grattan again. I'll check the WERA schedule see if we could fit that round in. really enjoy riding there, not just the track but the whole experience is good. The owners always seem to have neat landscaping projects on the go, bird houses all over, beautiful mature woods, very nice place. My kids found a Kildeer's nest in the gravel trap on turn one. They red flagged my race to get turtles off the track down the bottom there. Very National Geographic. Be alright if the CB-1s cleaned up too!

Grattan really is a neat place!  I was told and have heard it many times, that if you can ride well at Grattan, you can ride well anywhere in the country!  Have you been there since they put in their motocross track?  The motocross track is on the right side of the entrance road just before you cross over the front straight to enter the roadrace side.  I think its 1 1/2 miles long and they hold AMA Regional events there.

I dont know of any other track that has roadracing and motocross going on at the same time!  You could race on both sides if the races you are in are not at the same time!  A few years back, there was a guy that did this!  He finished a roadrace, got out of his leathers, threw on his motocross gear, and went over to race motocross!  The best races to watch, in my opinion, are the little kids on their 50s!

Yes, the wildlife is all around.  One time I was there, sitting on hot pit lane, waiting to go out for the warm up lap, when they made an announcement that there was a group of Deer about 40 yards from the outside of the track!  Thankfully, they did not get any closer to the track, but it sure was weird going thru that part of the track and having one eye on them and my other eye on the track and the other bikes that I was battling with!  The circular pond over by turns 3 and 4 is a great place to fish!  Lots of largemouth bass up to 6 lbs, and there is also a 40 inch pike in there as well!  I always take my fishing gear when I go there!   Smiley

Do you buy any stuff from CB-1.org? I'm in negotations with the fellow in Dublin for these wheels. Going to be $200 just for shipping, do you know anyone selling a set of wheels? I'm kind of new to this site, bought stuff on ebay OK but there's not much you can do if it all goes wrong is there. No Paypal to appeal to. You know the day after I bought this bike the previous owner called to say there was a parts bike on Kijiji, I jumped on it but missed by two hours. Would have been wheels, gas tank, engine everything. I'm using this cos I can do it at work. The firewall stops personal emails. We just watched the last Can National on tv fron Shannonville. My daughter was on the show in the CBR125 race, kind of neat seeing your kid on tv!! Stu.
