i'm going to look at a 89 cb-1 with 11k miles on it in great running shape....he is the 2nd owner and has it for sale for no less then $1500..
he says it needs nothing...new tires last year and is 100% stock.
he said the paint was really bad and cracked so he repainted it himself and says it looks semi pro.

whats a cb-1 that probably needs a paint job worth??

Hey linkandcuff,

They seem to got for anything from $800-$3300, depending on condition, miles, maint needs, etc. A lot of this depends on the buyer, of course. I'd buy a ratty one that was complete for a track day bike or commuter. I'd buy a clean one if stock was important to me. What do you want it to do for you? Maybe the paint will be nice and the tires won't be Bridgestone Excedras. Smiley

It sounds like you have two choices.
1) buy a perfect one and pay for it...if you can find one.
2) buy a less than perfect one and make it a project.

Personally, I enjoy working on the bikes so I'd take #2. Earlier this year I assembled an '86 FZ750, which was quite beautiful when it was done!

my first bike was a 1987 FZ700 fast bike for its time...handling a little iffy!!..haha...i put 15k miles with just one wiring issue and sold it with 32k miles on it.....aahhh....the memories

the bike i'm going to look at is a 89 cb 1 with 11k and he says its 100% stock and 100% ready to ride and is in aweosme shape but he repainted it himself which leads me to believe i'll be painting it again.....where do i get stickers though?

IF the bike is in the shape that he said its in, regradless of the paint, $1500 is a great price.  A sound mechanical bike is what you want.  The paint will have nothing to do with how it runs.  For a 20yr old bike, thats really low for mileage.  That could have been put on the bike in 2 to 4 yrs.  Check cables/hoses for dry rotting.  I think we can agree that it has been sitting for quite some time, at some point in its life.

If you want a true CB-1 to present at shows, and assuming you are in the States, its a must that you have it painted back to its original smurf blue color!  Just my 2 cents...  Grin

I paid 2700 canadian for mine and it isn't immaculate but close I've put 10000Kms on it still going strong, engines are great.
I've had it for 2 years, 1500 is a good price. I am also interested at that price where is the bike??

I gave $2350.00 for mine with 14k miles....and pretty close to immaculate minus a couple very minor dents in the tank.
