Hi all i just finished freezing my nuts off to install my new Heated Grips, I wired them straight to the ignition so there souldn't be all that much of a drain on the battery anyway i also changed my spark plugs holy crap is that a bitch i mean i knew they'd be difficult but wow, i could be missin several fingers, i'm not sure yet cause i'm still waiting for them to unthaugh themselves!

Heated Grips = work fine on CB-1 = very happy Oisin with warm hands

Now go back and take all the connectors apart, fill with vaseline, and put back together.
Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Also, think very hard about leaving them with no relay. It only takes one time forgetting to turn them off and your battery will be drained well within 5 hours. I used a few spade plugs and a spare headlight relay off a fireblade loom i happen to have in the loft. Or get one from maplin or halfords for about £2.50

I was smart enough to put vasoline on everything before i installed them, and as i wired the positive to the ignition it can't drain the battery even if i forget to turn it off it turns off automatically!

Good job!

I made two errors when fitting mine - a cheaper variant. Nothing on the plugs, which looked of suitably decent quality not to need it. Green everywhere <2 weeks later. Also wired it to the battery which meant that when it all went green, the inevitable short-circuit drained the battery although I never forgot to switch them off.

I've just driven 50 km in the coldest of cold, had to jump start my bike today and leave the battery charging for half an hour had the grips on full heat and my hands were still cold!!! anyway the battery died on me just as came into my estate so i'm not sure if it's a charging problem or the fact that it was so cold the battery couldn't take a charge with the grips on?!!! anyway won't be riding for a while as it's mayhem here!

I'm glad that your heated grips are working out. Couldn't imagine riding in freezing cold. It's about 59 degrees here near San Francisco. Maybe global warming is over and we can go back to our human bad habits. All of you Honda CB1 people....stay warm.

lol this is what my our CB-1's looked like on Tuesday (and not much different now!!!)

The usuable one is under cover on the left whilst the uncovered one is being stripped (hence the lack of a cover!)

Kudos to the people riding - we're not even taking the car it's that icy now.

I have seen conversion kits that add a ski to the front wheel and replace the rear wheel with a snowmobile tread! It looks pretty cool...wonder if it will work with a -1? Roll Eyes

That is a great shot Aaron, I caught that one on our weather channel here!
