Finished working on my bike for the winter, now time to ride.  Put a new rear shock on, new front disk, front caliper/master cylinder re-build, new front pads, new sprocket, new instrument bulbs, new oil, new filter, new tyre's, coolant flush/re-fill and upgraded regulator rectifier. So I wheel her round the front, it fires up vroooom vroooom then cuts out.  I try to re-start several times but nothing seems to happen. After removing the fuel tank turns out the fuel line has a kink so I fix it up. Then the bloody battery goes and dies.  Now I have to wait for a friend or family member to get home so I can jump start, what a pain.

I'm up at my Dads in Brum right now, otherwise I'd have nipped round. Can't you bump it? A bit hard if you're not used to it but practice makes perfect Use 2nd gear, run along side with the clutch in then jump on side saddle and release the clutch just as you get on the bike. I used to have a Guzzi that would never start on the button and I would jump it all the time - just takes the "nack".

I had to get used to bump startin it over the cold scene! not fun but warms you up in this cold climate

Gave the battery to a friend to charge up last night.  Should get it back this evening.  I should try the bump start though, could really do with a hill or slope.

Aye, that's one good thing about living on top of the only hill in Cambridge - 'comes in useful. I don't mind bumping bikes but retired from ever bump starting a car again a few years ago
