Hi all,
got myself a CB-1 at the weekend. It's a bit ratty cosmetically but the engine runs fine.
It was a bloody long ride to get her home tho', 850km's... & stinking hot weather too.
I live in Koh Samui, Thailand,
It's a yellow one & the reg book says 1995, thats the import date rather than manufacture i believe.
1 question, the guy i bought it from said that the speedo reads low.  I saw that at 7,000 rpm in top it was showing 100kph,
it felt faster than that. Can anyone tell me what it should read?

I'll post up some pics soon.

Cheers,
Chris.

Congrats on your buy, engines always run fine on the old CB-1, you could drop a nuke on them and they'd still power on. 3000rpm is equal to 50 kmph on my clocks but i'm not sure, in top 13,000 will bring me to about 190kmph so i dunno i wouldn't say it's far off 100kmph

With stock gearing my bike and several others I have heard of read almost exactly 10% high. ie: at 200kmh indicated the actual speed by gps was 180. At 100 kmh indicated the actual was 90.

With a change to a 37 tooth rear sprocket my speedo is dead on at all speeds according to gps.

Ok, cheers for that.
I'll check out the gearing, see what sprockets are on.

Samuichris,  I've had my CB1 for a few weeks and I had the same concern.  I figured it out by driving next to my wife (who was driving her suv) at 40/60/75 mph...my speedo was dead on despite my concern.  ...not sure how many teeth my clocks have...I'll check it out though.

The sprocket change was the chain drive sprocket, the original rear was 41 teeth and the new 37 tooth gave two benefits. Less revs on the highway and correcting the speedo error at the expense of being about a half second slower in the 1/4 mile. No change in top speed. it just comes in 5th gear now instead of 6th. Downhill or with a strong tailing wind, top end is slightly increased.
