I'm now looking to step up to a bigger bike. My insurance is forcing me to either get a 1994 or earlier sport bike or any 600cc -750cc sport tourer. The ones I have in mind are the CBR 600 F2 or the FZR 600, but I am open to opinions. Basically I want to have something that I can wheelie and is good on the highway. Of course my other option would be to keep the CB1.

I can understand that everyone is gonna tell me eith to get the cbr or keep the CB1, but I'm bored of the CB1s power and the price difference between the cbr and fzr is usually $1000. The cbr being more expensive of course.

FZR's have a rather clunky transmission with a fair bit of false neutrals... positive shifting can fix this... but it is just not a honda.

Hope this helps.

How is it that your insurance company is "forcing" you to get a bigger bike?

I took 89cb1's comment to mean his insurance (cost) is what is forcing him to buy a 1994 or earlier....i.e. to keep his cost down.

Why not drop a 600 lump,(pref "RR"), into the CB-1 - Best of both worlds Wink

eaglerider knows what I meant. For about the same price I paid last year for the CB1, I could have a 1994 or earlier 600 cc sport bike or a 600-750cc sport tourer. I found a 1991 cbr 600 f2 with a repsol body that I'm going to go check out this weekend. I want the CBR they are jusy so hard to find.

How do you insure that then, as a cb-1 or a cbr600f3?

The only way it effects your insurance is if you TELL them you have a bigger engine. Now if you get in an accident and you have full coverage and the insurance adjuster sees 599cc on the engine case and is familiar with Honda bikes you may have a situation.

Yes filling the insurance in on the illegalities of my motorcycle is not a habit i am in to  Grin, great stuff i saw a cbr600f3 engine on sale during the week for about £300, not something i'm looking to do right at this moment but certainly in the future when i want more power i'd say i'd have to do alot to the chassis though?!
