Recently the speedometer's been bouncing up and down.  Tonight it finally gave out and stopped moving causing my mileage to quit counting as well. It would move occasionally but stopped working for the most part.    Is this repairable?

I'm thinking it's done... so I need a "clock" gauge cluster.  OEM original is preferred.

Not wanting to spend too much, but show me what you have.

Thanks.

Have you checked to make sure it is not a cable issue?

Not yet.  Forgot to add the RPM's and all still work fine.  You're saying it could be just a bad cable wire?  What exactly would I check?

Could be cable or widget, take off the cover of the front sprocket and check the little plastic widget make sure it's not striped to shit. next check the cable, make sure it's turning properly you may need to clean it if not replace it, i have a spare widget and cable if you need them PM me. if it's just the widget you will have to clean the cable anyway because more than likely there's grit and dirt in it putting strain on that little plastic piece of shit. believe me they're a pain in the ass. it doesn't sound like your clocks are gone i've had the same problem too many times.

Alright, I took off the cluster itself using the 2 screws.  Not exactly sure what you meant by the cover off the front sprocket.  And I couldn't figure out what you meant by little plastic widget.  I unscrewed the piece that goes into the back of the cluster (speedometer side) and it had a 2 inch metal piece that goes into the back of the cluster (speedometer side).  It didn't look too dirty or anything at all.  I messed with the wires a bit, then rode the bike and the speedometer worked but bouncing up and down.

Not sure if I unscrewed/checked the right pieces.
If you could be more specific that would be great.

Thank you sir.

The front sproket is just at your left foot as your sitting on the bike <a href="http://s729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/91cb-1/?action=view&current=DSCF1368.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/91cb-1/DSCF1368.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> . you have to disconnect the gear shifter and remove this plastic cover <a href="http://s729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/91cb-1/?action=view&current=DSCF1364.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/91cb-1/th_DSCF1364.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" ></a> after you do this you have to remove this metal cover in which you will find the front sprocket. <a href="http://s729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/91cb-1/?action=view&current=DSCF1367.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/ww291/91cb-1/DSCF1367.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> attached to the front sprocket there will be a small plastic widget that looks like this http://www.wemoto.com/bikes/Honda/CB-1_CB_400_F__NC27/89-90/picture/Speedo_Joint_-__Plastic_Sprocket_Widget/ , if it is worn or stripped it will cause the needle to bounce or just not work. you will also need to disconnect the cable you can see where it goes into the metal cover in the first pic there will be a screw or allen nut that you will have to remove in order to take the cable out it's just beside the entrance to where the cable inserts. the other end of the cable goes into the clock cluster just underneath the speedometer. hope this is of some help
