1  Classifieds / Wanted / Re: Fuel petcock lever on: September 02, 2018, 08:02:51 PM
Believe it is the same "part" as the 1988 Honda VX600 shadow with the exception that the VX part is "chromed" in appearance.

Look at Honda part # 16963-MR1-000.

Hope that helps.
2  Classifieds / Wanted / Re: Center stand on: August 21, 2018, 02:51:05 PM
Thank you for the "link".

How does one proceed?

Appears the current price is reasonable--but worry about shipping sending the cost through the roof.

Can you cast any light on my concerns?

Thank you

4  Classifieds / Wanted / Re: 4-1 exhaust on: July 19, 2018, 09:47:07 AM
I had heard that was an issue but you are the first to confirm that information.

A PITY as there are / were some really nice aftermarket supplied pipes available.

Think even Yoshimura did a full Stainless system for the NC27.

A real SHAME that is now the case.

Appreciate the info

Rick
5  Classifieds / Wanted / Re: carb insulators on: May 22, 2018, 03:54:28 PM
those are the cheap Chinese copies. I have used them on the CB-1 & NC23 and they work but aren't the best fit as the airbox needs tweeking & nudging to line up with the front frame mount

Pod70,

THANK YOU for that insight and helpful information based on personal experience.

At LEAST there is SOME HOPE.

Appreciate the courtesy of the reply.

6  Classifieds / Wanted / Re: carb insulators on: May 21, 2018, 06:06:01 PM
You most likely will never find NOS carb "A" insulators, I had the same problem 2 years ago.  I did find Honda NOS "B" insulators and bought four after looking over my originals very closely and not finding a significant difference between them.  Bike runs just fine with all "B" insulators installed.

Sugs /  members,

Is it POSSIBLE then that one of the aftermarket suppliers products will then fit?

Here's an example of what I refer to:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carburetor-Insulator-for-Honda-CBR400-NC23-87-89-NC29-90-94-CB-1-CB400F-1989-91/162859636664?hash=item25eb30d7b8:g:Yq4AAOSwvGlaYaBl

IF they will work would be a Godsend.

Would appreciate comments and possibly info from a member who has tried and -hopefully-been successful.

Kind regards

Rick
7  Classifieds / Wanted / carb insulators on: May 18, 2018, 07:32:07 AM
Looking for a set of Carb insulators (rubbers) that enable carbs to be attached to cylinder head.

OEM Part numbers are:

                               16212-KAF-000 x2

                               16213-KAF-000 x2

Will take aftermarket as well.

E-Bay listings from China etc all do NOT seem to fit (even those that say HONDA CB-1 (CB400F)1989-1991.

Can anyone provide a source for these?

Thank you

On giving this additional thought the PERFECT SCENARIO for me would be to buy a bike that has had an engine FAILURE.

Not that this is a common situation(Hondas are typically stone reliable) but it could be a WIN WIN for owner(if they had no desire to locate a replacement engine) and me.

n advance THNKS for any help.

Bill,

THANKYOU for the courtesy of the helpful links.

What's a bit SCAREY is the Range of Prices. Some as low as $77:49 while others as high as $313:82.  Is it just GREED or is there a reason one is FOUR TIMES more than the others??

Is it Buy the $77 and take a chance or Buy the $300+ and be certain of a working part?

Again APPRECIATE the courtesy of the help.

Regards

Rick

12  General Category / Tech Corner / Re: Need suggestions for new front end on: May 03, 2018, 07:25:02 PM
Read this thread with much interest as I have a parts bike I'd like to return to service--BUT--it has NO FRONT FORKS.

How about this idea?

Use CBR600F3 Wheel / discs / calipers and forks and slid them into the CB1 triples. This gives dual discs.

BUT

As the CBR600F3 has a WIDER wheel vs the CB1 this will also mean that the forks are spaced farther apart to accomodate the wider wheel. Is that CORRECT??

Is a solution then to use the CBR600F3 complete front end with upper and lower triple trees??

Does this in turn necessitate pressing out the "stem" from the CB1 unit and "inserting" it into the F3 setup??

Also with a wider spacing of the fork tubes will this not also reduce the Left to Right handlebar movement with a resultant "lengthening" of the turning radius??

Written another way.

IF the CBR600F3 fork tubes slide up into the CB1 triples all would be good until one tried to fit the front WIDER F3 wheel and one would find the fork tubes were not spaced far enough apart to allow the wheel / brakes to fit.

Is this correct??

If someone who has tried this could give us the benfit of their experiences it would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Rick

Looking for the petcock lever that allows for the operation (on/off/reserve) of the valve.

Honda part number is:

16963-KAF-670

Looking for just the lever but will buy complete assembly to secure one.

NEW would be EXCELLENT but a nicely used one will certainly suffice.

Please send me a note with what you have (hope SOMEONE has one)

In advance thank you for any helpfulness.
