Looks really clean. Is the the fuel pump in front of the
seat? Mine is on the opposite side. Is it different
depending on location and year?

Yes that's the fuel pump.  Interesting question, not sure about the answer but also would be interested to learn.

I'm wondering if what happens is that these little beauts go thru so many hands that at one point or another, owners have to be creative on where they add or relocate parts on these bikes to. I've seen some amazing engineering here folks....keep it up!

nice and glad you got a -1!  i thought the fuel pump in front of your seat there was a large fuel filter.  welcome!
