Value of a rough, but ridable CB-1?

Long time admirer of these machines ever since I saw one in person years before getting my license. I've been keeping my eyes out for a decent example of one of these machines for the last few years to get as a sporty around town bike to complement my existing fleet.
I found one for sale (asking $2k) nearby an out of state event that I'm attending. So, I'm trying to decide if it's worth the extra time and effort to pick it up. It's currently owned by a younger first time rider, there are no maintenance records available (~35k miles). It's got some scrapes on the case and some surface rust on a bolts and pegs and oxidation - all visible in photos. Clearly this motorcycle has not been babied and has been stored outside for a couple years at least! That doesn't scare me off, so long as it is safe to ride and works as advertised.
I really want the opinion of this council on the correct value for this thing, presuming it's all there and all works as shown in photos I have been provided. I'm thinking something like $1k?
Thanks for your wealth of knowledge about this cool little bike!

Don't see any photos in your post. I'm in California and bought a very nice clean CB-1 w/12,000 miles last year for $3,900. Probably high compared to other states but it was in very nice condition mechanically and cosmetically.

$1754 if it's a 1989 and it's complete with the centerstand. $1690 without.
$1668 it it's a 1990.
How many speed holes in the rear brake reservoir guard?

Is it better or worse than this $850 abomination?

Would you mind dusting off your Polaroid and tacking a few pictures to the bulletin board at my local supermarket?

I ended up buying this bike. Look past the flat black paint and it's still a CB-1 at heart. I got her running after a carb clean and bypassed the fuel pump relay. I later replaced the tank and tail with an OEM blue version. I kept the black ones for later restoration. It was an easy rescue with nothing more than the normal work, battery, carb clean, plugs, oil change and air filter clean (K&N). Tires are still good but I'll replace them next season. Fun mods included LED turns, adjustable Pazzo levers and Rizoma mirrors. I will swap out the wheels with CBR300rr wheels and rearsets from a 929rr. I'm finally back after a 30 year wait. I had a leftover 90 in 91.

So...how much did you end up paying for this CB1?
you never said.
Also...the black doesn't look all that bad as is.
But nice choice on the stock smurf.

$800. All in with the extras I put in, under $1500. Still a bargain. Leaves me some room to fix up a few things.

Troy MI. I got it in PA, around September last year. I will post pics later, maybe tomorrow. I've been a member here for awhile (even with no CB1). I recently left discouraged by some of the negative posts lately. Decided to come back since I really don't like FB. Hopefully I will get a better experience this time around.

Don't give the negative comments too much thought. I know I myself am a bit, well, lets say "brutally honest" when giving my opinion. Just shrug it off and as a friend once told me......"Oh Whelp, somebody on the net who doesn't agree with me".
No biggy.
But I for one would love to see the pics.
Sometimes.....new posters come on here with new threads like "I have this mint CB1 RARE Honda for sale for $7000"......and well, that sometimes just rubs folks around here the wrong way for some reason.
I've been noticing that "most" of the CB1 enthusiasts are just hard-workin' folk who truly love and enjoy their little CB1s and just don't want to be bamboozled.

What's the best way to post pics on this forum, besides dropping in a link?
Check my sig for now. My Flickr album is there. I'll keep it updated. For now, she is hibernating in the trailer.
Future mods include cbr300r wheels, 900rr throttle/start switch and 929rr rearsets.

You keep mentioning the CBR300R wheels? its not a direct swap in is it?
I don't think so. Don't you have to mess with a bunch of bearings and disc brake stuff?
